Childbirth and poverty in Europe: A dynamic bivariate approach

We use the 2015–2018 European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions panel data a dynamic bivariate probit model to estimate impact of childbirth risk poverty in 25 countries. both mechanisms, identifying genuine state dependence accounting for feedback effects from past childbirth. find that slightly increases Europe, but some heterogeneities emerge at country level. When disentangling conditional status, it appears determines redistributive possibly induced by welfare systems. evidence suggests discouraging factors experience itself has increased over time.
